Police Council Confirmed ALHAJI Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar As Inspector General Of Police

Yesterday ALHAJI Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar was confirmed by the Police Council as the Inspector General of Police (IG). The Police Council meeting
preceded that of the National Council of
State. The meeting held at the Council
Chambers of the Presidential Villa Abuja
that he would do “everything humanly
possible to ensure safety and management of security in the country. I will also ensure that justice and fair play take place, among all officers and men of the Nigerian Police, I will give the right leadership, quality leadership that they expect to get, without fear or favour to anybody and I will do justice to all at every given situation.

ALHAJI Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar (IG of police) said; You will see more efficiency and effectiveness in police service and performance on reparations for the governorship election in Edo State, the IG said, the election must be free, fair and credible. And we must provide safety and security for voters to be assured that they can come out to cast their vote and discharge their civic responsibility. Police men and material massively moved to Edo State in order to dominate Edo State, to give them the required safety and security that they are supposed to have. He said that the police investigations into the corruption case involving the former chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on oil subsidy, Alhaji Farouk
Lawan, is making successive progress. He added: The issue of high profile investigation, it is a case we have taken
over. We initiated the case because I did say in all my pronouncements that we shall fight corruption and corruption not only within the police service but in this country. We have a responsibility
constitutionally to fight bribery and
corruption and we shall do that. It is an
ongoing case and we have made
successive progress on it.

Aspirants to support Akeredolu by Aregbesola (Osun State Governor)

Oranmiyan Sunshine
Forum (OSF) group, Aregbesola urged all
governorship aspirants of the Action
Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Ondo State
to Mr.
Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), to guarantee victory for the party in the October 20
election. ACN said it has directed its
members to mobilise from all units,
wards and local governments for
Akeredolu and ACN. Addressing an interactive session in the state capital,
Akure, the founder of
the group, an ACN chieftain, Bola Ilori,
said any politician who wants victory for
his party must deliver his or her unit. The Osun State Special Adviser to
Governor on Environment and Sanitation said: “Now, our leaders, through a
process, have picked Akeredolu. It is now
left for us to be united and work for the
success of our party. The resolution is that ACN has only one aim, which is to unseat
the present administration of Labour
Party (LP) led by Governor Olusegun
Mimiko. “I want to clarify one thing: the party
chieftains are not divided and there is no
disconnect in the party. What is presently
going on in the party is normal in politics. It
happened in Lagos when Governor Babatunde Fashola was picked; several
people were aggrieved but ACN still won
the poll. “Presently, 80 per cent of the aspirants
have agreed to work with the candidate
of the party and, already, Senator Ajayi
Boroffice, Jaiyeola Ajatta and some
others have publicly declared their
support for Akeredolu.” Ilori, a former local government chairman
in Lagos State, urged the people to see
the candidate as a symbol of the party
rather than an individual contender. He said the symbol of the party would be
on the ballot paper on the election day
and not the picture of the party’s
candidate. Mr. Ade Adetimehim; State Treasurer of the party, said ACN members and most
of the aspirants have agreed to work with
Akeredolu.
